boy do i have some "taylor-made news"... I'M GETTING MARRIED!!!
since i've told the story approximately 500 times (but trust me, i don't mind telling it another 500 times) i thought i would write out the proposal story here.
Derek and i went to Atlanta for a couple days to spend time together, shop for Christmas presents and just relax before the holidays. we toured cnn and ate a LOT of great food and then friday night we decided to go ice skating at centennial olympic park. well we get to the rink (after changing into some warm clothes) and the line is about an hour long, and there are a LOT of teenie boppers with no adult supervision and it was so cold outside. we stood in line for about 20 minutes and decided to scrap the idea and walk around to look at Christmas lights.
there was a giant Christmas tree all lit up and after walking around i wanted to take a picture in front of the tree (i'm notorious for begging for pictures all the time haha). there was a carriage driver standing nearby and i said to derek, "i'll just go ask that guy to take the picture" to which he responds "i don't want that guy taking it". i thought it was weird, but brushed it off and we just hugged and looked at the lights. i then see our friend sean walk around from the other side of the tree (side note: all our friends are about an hour and a half away and sean lives 30 minutes away so we weren't supposed to know anyone there. that's why it was strange to see sean at the park). i said "is that sean?" and derek answered "yeah, he can be our photographer". at this point i am thoroughly confused and say "our photographer for what?" and when i turn back around towards derek he is down on one knee. at this point sean just starts taking pictures.
i then go into my "oh my god" fit... haha
then derek says: "i know this is the part where some people go into a long speech, but i want to keep this simple. i am in love with you. i can't imagine spending the rest of my life without you in it."
me: "oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!"
derek: "taylor, shhh." (haha i was getting a little out of control and not paying attention) "i love you so much, will you marry me?"
and he gives me the most perfect ring (which deserves its own blog post). i say YES and then we have our moment...
and then i remember that sean is standing right there taking pictures.
the picture below is my favorite picture because it shows the raw emotion the very second we decided we were going to spend the rest of our lives together. look how ecstatic i am and how proud and happy derek looks.
i just love it (and HIM) so much!!
sean congratulated us and then the three of us went out for dinner (i just couldn't let him leave after playing such a big role in our special day!)
and there you have it folks. my dream has come true: i am marrying the PERFECT man for me. we are so blessed that God picked us for each other and i absolutely can't wait to spend the rest of my life with derek!
congratulations and what a sweet proposal!

Congratulations, Taylor!!!! I wish I'd known when I saw you Sunday. I would have asked about 1 million questions. When do we get a montage of ring photos? Bring them on, lady!

Congratulations! I know exactly what you mean about the oh my god babbling - I don't know why it happens, I think it probably "just does". You both look so happy and sweet together!

This is too cool! My daughter got engaged on December 17th in almost exactly the same place! We saw you at the recent bridal fair in Columbus, but had no idea at the time that you were not there only for the news. We began to put two and two together the following weekend when we spotted the two of you together at Peachtree Mall. Congratulations! I hope you and your family are as excited to be planning a wedding as we are!
