my lovely step-mother sharon make the greatest cornbread on the planet. i dare you to find any that is better.
for christmas she got me an old-timey cast iron skillet to make my own cornbread in. my goal was to master her recipe (which isn't a recipe at all, just a "feel-it-out" type of cooking).
i started with my first batch...
and it turned out like this...
in all honesty, it tasted like dog crap. i felt like a failure, and dumped the whole batch in the garbage.
after talking with sharon on the phone and going over all the steps, we decided the problem is the corn meal. i don't like yellow corn meal and the taste is too grainy for me. so after switching ingredients, i created sharon-perfect cornbread!
derek and i ate the entire batch.
it was incredible!!!
